Jeff Cleator

President

Jeff was recruited as a UW construction management student in 1988, when lecturer Bill Lewis was struck by his talent, determination, and character. These traits have served Jeff well as he has risen from project management to Commercial Division Manager in 2000, Vice President in 2011, and President in 2016. Jeff is an ace problem solver who brings creativity and leadership to the thorniest technical issues in construction, including his decade-long "Lewis Lean" mission to eliminate waste and improve delivery on every project. He serves selected clients as project executive. A father and husband, Jeff is also a favorite girls’ soccer coach.

Jay Sorensen

Executive Vice President - Operations

Jay has a passion for finding and developing the best talent in the industry, with education, mentoring, empowerment, and giving great people the chance to work at their highest level. Jay is responsible for connecting people with projects and ensuring that each team has what they need to excel. Since joining Lewis in 1997, he has been deeply involved with every aspect of our business and every market sector, from offices to biotech to manufacturing plants, all of which is in his purview today. Sustainability is a particular interest at home, as a bicycle commuter, and at Lewis.

Gary Smith

Executive Vice President

Gary is one of our region's top construction leaders, with a longtime focus on mentoring, safety, education, and alternative contracting and a diverse background in commercial, industrial, and marine construction. Gary started in construction in 1975 and came to Lewis in 1996, serving as Senior Project Manager, then Principal, then President. As Executive Vice President, Gary focuses on mentoring our staff and serving selected clients as account executive. He is Past President of the AGC of Washington and on the boards of the Northwest Construction Consumer Council and the Seattle Aquarium. Outside of work, Gary is a Rescue Diver and enjoys boating in the Puget Sound.

Jay Halleran, DBIA

Executive Vice President

Jay grew up in a construction family, earned his construction management degree, then spent 35 years rising to managing partner at NBBJ, a leading architecture firm. Joining Lewis in 2016 was a return to his construction roots. With a focus on healthcare and institutional work, Jay is continuing the role he has held for decades – helping clients succeed by developing strong relationships and understanding how each defines success. Past projects include ongoing work at UW Medical Center and Swedish Hospital, plus major new construction such as Safeco Field and Two Union Square. In his free time Jay golfs, rides his bike, and spends time with his family at their La Conner beach house.

Bill Gormley

Bill Gormley

Vice President

Bill has been with Lewis over 20 years, aside from a period working for a developer. He brings a unique understanding of the client perspective, which has helped create successful outcomes for our partners on residential and commercial projects such as Via6 and Nine Two Nine. Bill is an innovator who understands how great systems and a "Lean" continuous improvement culture can help smart teams excel. He bicycles to work and spends his free time with is wife and three kids.

Tom Dilts

Vice President - Corporate Controller

Tom brought a diversified finance, economics, and business background when he joined Lewis in 1997. Armed with best practices from other industries, he immediately began finding ways to improve service and efficiency at Lewis. Tom is responsible for day to day accounting and finance functions at the company. Also, he is a champion for the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and oversees program administration. Outside of work, Tom is a movie buff, and enjoys racquetball and hiking.

Carey Crutcher Smith

Director of Marketing

Carey joined her father Jim and her cousin Bill at Lease Crutcher Lewis in 2008, bringing over 25 years of marketing, strategic planning, and business operations experience to the company. She supports marketing, business development, and employee programs. Carey sits on the boards of the Girl Scouts of Western Washington and Lakeside School, and is a member of Marketing Communications Executive, Inc.(MCEI). She is an avid tennis player and enjoys the outdoors.

Geoff Anderson

Director of Preconstruction

With Lewis since 1995, Geoff is on a mission: using collaboration, technology, and data to improve every aspect of preconstruction, so projects are faster, costs are known early and accurately, and the whole team's best expertise is part of every decision. Geoff earned a Bachelors in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington. He started in project engineering, became a project manager (on jobs such as Garfield High School), and has managed our Estimating and Preconstruction group since 2009. An avid runner, he lives in Seattle with his wife and daughter.

General Superintendent

After three decades in construction, what Jim loves most is working with people and helping them build their careers. His leadership helps Lewis grow primarily from within. Jim's role as General Superintendent means involvement in everything we build – ensuring top quality and safety standards on every jobsite, staffing, and helping find creative solutions to any challenges that arise. Though Jim loves ocean and river fishing, his family is his top priority including nine grandchildren. Jim has been with Lewis since 1995.

Steve Brennan

Safety Director

Safety is very personal for Steve. This philosophy is shared throughout Lewis where each of us is our "brother's and sister's keeper" and we protect each other like family. Steve leads a safety culture of personal commitment, accountability, and speaking up, supported by planning, training, and communication. He brings over two decades of occupational safety leadership and joined Lewis in 2008. Steve loves travel, everything outdoors and sporty, and his wife's reminder each morning to have a safe day.

Vern Davidson

Vern Davidson

Information Technology Manager

Outstanding data and collaboration tools are the backbone of Lewis, and Vern manages a dedicated team that keeps on top of everything from virtual design and construction tools to network connectivity and infrastructure servers. A big focus is the continuous flow of new projects in the field, each its own IT infrastructure. He also vets new technologies so Lewis is always a leader in project delivery. Vern has been with Lewis since 1990. In his spare time, he plays golf and basketball and spends time with his three grandchildren.
