Roy is mechanically inclined, understanding the intricate nuts and bolts of the projects he works on. He’s passionate about the craft of timber framing—he owns nearly every book published on the subject and traveled to Maine to complete an advanced timber frame course for compound roof systems. While working on the Elephant Lands project at the Oregon Zoo, Roy enjoyed working near the animals, learning about the behind-the-scenes zoo operations and getting to know the staff that keeps the zoo functioning. He loves spending time with his family, camping and hiking, and reading mysteries and science fiction.
