DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
Our unique and diverse workforce drives our success as a company, and we celebrate the differences that make each of us our authentic selves.
Lewis is working to make a change; we want our employees to represent the diverse communities we work in and the unique clients we work for. We know big changes don’t happen overnight, therefore we are committed to continuing our education and progressing toward this vision every day. We are proud of the communities we help build and together we can create a more inclusive and diverse community for everyone.
DIVERSITY AT LEWIS
As employee owners, diversity is more than an initiative for us—it’s deeply rooted in our company culture and values. We believe everyone should be able to come to work as their authentic selves and feel safe, included and valued. At Lewis, we support our employees so that everyone can be an advocate and encourage their peers to be exactly who they are—on and off the jobsite.
EVERYONE.
Lewis is a place for everyone, and we welcome people of all races, ethnicities, genders and backgrounds. We know that creating a diverse and equitable workforce is a process—a process that takes passion and buy-in from everyone.
We are working together to make Lewis a more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace. As we move forward on this journey, we are actively listening, learning and continuing important conversations. Some of our current initiatives to support our workforce include:
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committees Our DEI committees in Seattle and Portland advocate, educate and help us move toward a more inclusive Lewis. These efforts include internal educational series, supporting organizations like Pride and ANEW and advancing guiding principles that reflect our company and employee values.
- Affinity Groups We have established a Multi-Cultural Club and Women’s Development group to provide a dedicated space for the women and people of color at Lewis to build community, share similar experiences, find career growth opportunities and provide feedback and recommendations to our DEI committees and leadership.
- Union Labor Recruitment Lewis partners with local unions and pre–apprenticeship programs to bring people from all backgrounds, including women and people of color, into the trades. We support programs that provide second opportunities to formerly incarcerated persons and educate high school students about careers in the trades.
