John brings to Lewis his years of safety experience dating back to 1994 during his active-duty Air Force tenure when his unit sought a “Safety Non-Commissioned Officer” – an opportunity he seized eagerly. John’s civilian safety path began at the Port of Seattle in 2004, where he assumed the role of Construction Safety Manager. In 2009, he transitioned into the private sector, delving into General Contractor Safety Management. Over the years, John acquired many certifications, including Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction, Construction Health and Safety Technician, and Associate Safety Professional. John finds fulfillment in training sessions, relishing public speaking opportunities, and pro-actively engaging in fieldwork to recognize positive safety as well as identify areas for improvement. Off-duty, John treasures family time with his wife of 39 years, two married sons and their beloved Chihuahua/Golden Retriever mix – “Penny”. John and his wife dedicate themselves to their church and volunteer for various ministries.
