Lewis hired to build University of Washington Bothell Phase 3
Lease Crutcher Lewis has been selected as the negotiated GC/CM for a new building at the University of Washington Bothell. The 75,000 square foot STEM Building (for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) will start construction in the summer of 2011 and complete by the end of 2012. In addition to being a complex building full of specialized facilities (auditorium, laboratories, offices, etc.), the project is interesting as a leap forward in the University's use of GC/CM delivery. For example, this is the first GC/CM project in Washington where the mechanical and electrical subcontractors are being hired early in design, using the MC/CM and EC/CM contracting process recently established by the State. Another advance is integrated teaming, in which Lewis, the UW, and Thomas Hacker Architects are working much more closely together in pursuit of overall project success.
