The Washington State Convention Center Summit Expansion is well underway! What you’re seeing in this video is the first of several zones to be erected as part of a construction technique known as “billboarding.”
This technique is extremely useful for multi-level projects on massive sites, just like this one, because it allows multiple phases of construction to occur simultaneously. Using this technique, the Clark/Lewis Joint Venture will fully erect one portion of the building, and then move on an adjacent zone. At the same time, work will continue to progress in the first zone, including curtainwall, HVAC, electrical, elevators, etc. Zone after zone will be erected and finished, until the whole project is complete.
Keep an eye on this blog for more footage of the billboarding approach at the WSCC Summit expansion!
