ICHS celebrates Shoreline clinic groundbreaking
Seattle - Rainy skies couldn’t stop the crowd from cheering as International Community Health Services (ICHS) broke ground on what will be the first-ever community health center in Shoreline.
The new ICHS Shoreline Medical & Dental Clinic, scheduled to open in fall of 2014, will provide area residents with more options for affordable and in-language health care services. The opening of the new clinic will coincide with full-implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the expansion of health coverage for thousands of Washington residents.
The brand-new 30,000 square foot facility will include 18 examination rooms, 2 special procedure rooms, 10 dental operatories, a pharmacy, laboratory, community hall, classrooms, exhibition gallery, and outdoor courtyard and garden. As a federally-qualified community health center, the new ICHS Shoreline clinic will serve everyone seeking care regardless of income or insurance status.
ICHS recently embarked on a capital campaign to raise funding for the Shoreline clinic, as well as another clinic in Bellevue scheduled to open also in 2014.
“We are building on a proud legacy of care established by our founders 40 years ago,” says ICHS Foundation Director Ron Chew. “We want to encourage all our supporters—staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners—to be a part of this campaign and to be a part of building ICHS’s future.”
