Lincoln High School

Lewis successfully performed a very complex historic renovation and addition for the Tacoma School District at Lincoln High School. Work included a complete renovation of the 1913 “Old Main” school totaling 138,000 square feet, and additions totaling 47,177 square feet, including a four-story library wing and three-story science wing. We also remodeled the gymnasium, pool and Industrial Arts buildings. The project team invested a great deal of time and effort into saving and reusing elements of the old school. Examples include existing historical windows, plaster crown moldings, stained glass windows, skylights, and lockers. Specialty glass and plaster subcontractors were hired to rebuild these historical components to preserve the historical nature of the project. The reopening was cause for great celebration in South Tacoma—with this historically significant facility restored and returned to the community.
