University of Oregon, Allen Hall Data Center

The colocation Data Center was installed in the 3,400-square-foot basement of the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, with a redundancy classification is Tier II+ (N+1).

The Data Center maintains a redundancy classification of Tier II+ (N+1). The project consists of approximately 900 kilowatts of electrical load with two separate, redundant Uninterruptable Power Supply systems (UPS A and UPS B). 75% of the cabinets are equipped with medium density cabinets at 10 kilowatts per cabinet and 25% of the cabinets are high-density cabinets capable of 30 kilowatts each.

This new addition to the School of Journalism supplements classroom and office spaces, providing a large common area and gathering spaces, and supports the University-operated data center. The data center will is located in a below-grade, cast-in-place concrete basement of the addition. It contains extensive underground infrastructure to accommodate large data feeds. Above the basement concrete foundation walls, a three-story structural steel skeleton  defines the addition for the College of Journalism.
