Projects
Oregon Zoo Black Bear/Boardwalk

The Project
This fast-tracked zoo renovation project provided multiple enrichment opportunities to promote active and healthy living for the four black bears. The improved habitat also increased visibility for visitors.

About
The project included a hammock made for two, an upright deadfall engineered to wobble in the foundation (the Wobble Tree), elevated platforms and a troika log configuration for climbing and resting. With the habitat located on a hillside, the platforms and troika deck construction included a total of 16 11-foot deep concrete piers to support the structures.
