The Project
This 33,000-square-foot build-out at Legacy's Emanuel West Tower will deliver 16 patient rooms tailored to the complex healing needs of burn survivors. The design by NBBJ also prioritizes space and support for patient families, who are an essential part of the healing journey.
About
Some of the unique challenges have included integrating new MEP and medical gas systems into existing infrastructure not originally intended for the needs of burn care, including advanced humidity and temperature controls. The project has leaned heavily on modeling by the VDC team. Through this effort, the team identified and resolved hundreds of clashes in tight overhead spaces virtually.
