Ladd Acres Elementary School

The Project
Lewis upgraded an 80,000-square-foot elementary school for Hillsboro School District with major structural and systems improvements. The team used VE strategies, alternate bids and strong trade partner engagement to drive savings. Constructability reviews and access plan revisions saved $150,000, keeping the project on track and under budget.

About
The new gym consists of a 9,700-square-foot freestanding building. The team researched and analyzed multiple construction types and plan options to arrive at a simple, efficient, and cost-effective pre-engineered metal building system. It includes basketball and volleyball courts, fixed seating for 100 spectators, group and single-occupant accessible restrooms, and storage and support spaces.
