The Project

Since opening 60 years ago, the University of Washington’s Haring Center has been dedicated to creating equitable and inclusive educational opportunities for all children—with or without disabilities. Significant upgrades, including seismic enhancements, a new HVAC system, and modernized electrical infrastructure have improved the health, safety, and security of all occupants.

The refreshed Haring Center now features more flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, a new-look entrance, and expanded observation areas. From nature-inspired play areas to a new cafeteria and updated meeting spaces, every element was designed and built to promote inclusive education, research and training.
