Chapter Building I

The Project
This 325,000-square-foot life science building includes 12 floors of office space, three levels of below-grade parking, and street-level retail. Built to LEED v4 Gold and Seattle’s Living Building Pilot specifications, it features a roof terrace, community pocket park, bioretention planters, and a 260,000-brick masonry façade. In addition to the brick masonry, the two ends of the building are joined by a glass curtain-wall expression to help break up the massing.

About
The Brooklyn Cut, a pedestrian-focused atrium, connects the project with the adjoining one. This mid-block connector between 12th and Brooklyn Avenues guides visitors through a dynamic space designed for gathering.
