On Friday afternoon in Pullman, the university held a grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for Schweitzer Engineering Hall.\r\n\r\nThe 66,288-square-foot facility is [now the central hub](https://news.wsu.edu/news/2026/09/14/inside-schweitzer-engineering-hall-a-first-look/) for WSU Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. With multipurpose classrooms, makerspaces, and dedicated areas for advising, tutoring, clubs and career services, the building creates an environment where students are supported at every step.\r\n\r\nLed by Lewis and ZGF Architects, the progressive design-build team delivered a project not that not only advances design and engineering education but puts engineering on display — from exposed structural elements and building systems to flexible zones that bring students together.\r\n\r\nIn the video above, hear from Lewis project manager Joshua Thomson and ZGF partner Allyn Stellmacher about the vision behind the project. \r\n\r\nAlso completed just down the hill from Schweitzer Engineering Hall and adjacent to the existing chiller plant is WSU's first nodal utility plant.
