August Update: John McLoughlin Elementary
We're three months into a 15-month modernization project at Oregon City School District District's John McLoughlin Elementary and the school community is already seeing significant progress.
In the video above, Lewis project manager Daniel Jeffery and school principal Emily Behunin provide a project update, including what’s happening on site and what the school community can expect as the school year comes into focus.
Interior demolition is complete, structural demolition and interior excavation are underway, and roof work is progressing.
With the first day of school just around the corner, keeping students, families, staff and neighbors informed is especially important. Regular updates help the community know what to expect and reinforce the importance of staying alert and prioritizing safety around an active, occupied school site.
Funded through the district’s 2025 bond program, the project will replace outdated open-concept learning pods with enclosed classrooms designed to improve acoustics, focus and student success. Additional upgrades include new HVAC systems, enhanced security features, modernized learning spaces, and improvements to the cafeteria, playground and Family Resource Center.
