Life Sciences
With expertise building BSL-3 labs, vivariums, and other complex facilities, Lewis is among the most technically capable builders. Our clean-building protocols, passion, and deep partnerships allow us to deliver projects seamlessly—even on occupied campuses—while meeting end-user needs.

Our Formula
Our presence in the life sciences market is built on 20 years of partnerships with major institutions including Fred Hutch Cancer Center and Seattle Children's Research Insitute, as well developers like Alexandria Real Estate. We know the needs of end users and facility managers because we’ve worked side by side with them for many years.

Our Bench
Supporting us is a team of in-house experts spanning MEP, VDC, code, and sustainability. From architectural concrete, cGMP spaces, below-grade research suites with strict vibration requirements, to interstitial floors packed with MEP—we’ve done it.

Alexandria Learning Lab Opens
Fred Hutch’s new Alexandria Real Estate Equities Learning Lab offers students immersive, hands-on science experiences, opening doors to careers in research and healthcare.
With support from Alexandria Real Estate, Fred Hutch has opened the Lewis-built learning lab designed to inspire the next generation of scientists. The lab gives high school and college students the chance to work alongside researchers, gaining real lab skills and mentorship that can spark lifelong careers in science. Rooted in decades of outreach and a vision by trailblazing educators, the space creates opportunities for young people to see themselves shaping the future of human health.

Passion for Clients' missions
Being passionate about our clients’ mission isn’t just a nice-to-have attribute. It’s a non-negotiable quality when we consider how to staff projects.
Before embarking on Building Cure for Seattle Children’s Research Institute, the team authored a project charter with our clients. We wanted to connect our work to the mission that the building would serve. This was more than just a set of floors and columns, and we wanted to make sure everyone on the team from our CEO to a carpenter apprentice knew that they were part of the bigger picture. It was a reminder of whose world-altering discoveries and therapies the team was ultimately supporting.
