New Road Ahead Project

The Oregon Humane Society is ushering in a new era with its New Road Ahead facility.

This expansion signified more than just a new chapter for OHS—it was a tangible step forward in the region’s approach to animal welfare, community support and justice. Several years later, it’s clear that the facility has not only redefined the capabilities and capacity of OHS but has also had a profound impact on community safety, access to affordable pet care and law enforcement resources.

Seattle Convention Center Summit addition

A High-Rise Convention Center

The Seattle Convention Center Summit addition opened in January 2023 after nearly a decade of planning. Built through the Lewis-Clark Construction Group joint venture, the project is the first vertically-oriented convention center in North America.

The downtown Seattle project generated $150 million in work with WMBE contractors, one million apprentice hours and 6,000 construction jobs. Delivering Summit was no small feat. Beyond building the main structure, the team rerouted Olive Way to build a new loading dock, installed complex water, sewer, electrical, and low-voltage systems beneath the rebuilt roadway, and coordinated an I-5 lane closure to construct a section that cantilevers over the freeway.

Lewis' seismic upgrades at North Valley Complex

A Seismic Transformation

When the State of Oregon acquired a 175,000-square-foot mixed manufacturing warehouse in Wilsonville, the vision was to reposition the existing concrete tilt-up warehouse.

The resulting project has transformed it into a space capable of supporting modern research labs, office space and a resilient emergency center. Since opening to multiple state agencies last year, the SERA Architects-designed North Valley Complex has become a showcase for how owners can breathe new life into well-positioned but underutilized industrial buildings. The project team also incorporated wood salvaged from devastating wildfires into new finishes throughout the reimagined space.
