POSITION SUMMARY

Lease Crutcher Lewis has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in our Seattle office. This position is responsible for two main scopes of work, the first of which includes billings, substantiations and internal audit of owner contracts within the Seattle operation. The second includes financial analysis and reporting on select general ledger bank accounts, as well as preparation of internal financial work papers and annual audits.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 2–3 years’ experience in an office environment.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Billings and Substantiations/Owner Contract Administration

  • Post owner invoices and cash receipts in the accounting system, making revisions as necessary and communicating receipt of payment to all interested parties
  • During month-end, analyze and reconcile the accounts receivable subsidiary ledger with the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are posted
  • Review draft owner invoices for project teams, confirming accuracy and appropriateness, and assigning invoice numbers for tracking
  • Owner contract administration to include audit of owner contracts and processing change orders
  • Prepare interim and final project substantiations on General Maximum Price contracts, which includes: detailed review of contract terms; preparation of final billing; preparation of supporting documentation for cost components; and determining and recording final project cost adjustments as necessary to comply with contract terms
  • Assist in owner-initiated project audits

Financial Analysis & Financial Reporting

  • Responsible for daily cash management of the entire Lewis entities bank accounts, which includes determination of periodic transfer and cash requirements for each account
  • Assist in preparation of internal financial work papers, annual audits and owner-initiated project audits
  • Monthly and ad hoc reporting and analysis as assigned
  • Investment account reconciliations as assigned
  • Prepare Monthly Combined Excise Tax Returns and Quarterly City B&O Taxes

IN ORDER TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

  • Business degree with emphasis on finance and accounting preferred
  • Experience with networked accounting and information systems required
  • Management experience required
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in an office environment
  • CMA or CPA certification preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of account analysis and reconciliation
  • Strong analytical skills, superior numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Robust computer skills and ability to adapt to any software package
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Excel required, including knowledge of queries and pivot tables
  • Experience with financial statements preferred, as well as the use of integrated accounting systems
  • Capable of ensuring quality of work and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated to follow through with initiatives
  • Proven ability to function effectively as part of a team and maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Makes timely decisions, balancing analysis with decisiveness and backs decisions with strong rationale
