Payroll Specialist



Lease Crutcher Lewis has an exciting opportunity on a fun team for a Payroll Specialist in our Seattle office.  This position performs the full range of weekly payroll processing. This includes maintaining electronic employee files and employee data on the accounting system, inputting weekly timecards in the payroll system, processing the weekly payroll on the accounting system, and printing and distributing the weekly payroll checks. Works closely with the project teams to resolve timecard reporting issues and other issues related to payroll. Position reports to the Accounts Payable & Payroll Manager.


  • Address incoming messages in the shared payroll email for various requests/updates related to: W-4’s, employee transfers, vehicle allowance, union dispatch, end of employment, direct deposit forms, paystub access, wage change, verification of employment, wage garnishments,  PTO balance inquiries, or other leave requests, changes to HSA contributions, etc.
  • Submit new hire/rehire data to DSHS
  • Generate certified payroll reports
  • Upload employee contributions to Fidelity and Optum Bank, initiate funding, and post in Spectrum
  • Assist in setting up various employee payroll deductions
  • Process layoff check requests as needed
  • Prepare monthly union report remittances
  • Post medical insurance claims in Spectrum weekly
  • Maintain employee files on the network and in the accounting system, input new hires and re-hires and utilize E-Verify for new hires
  • Generate weekly paychecks, utilizing timecard work package for timecard entry, checking edit lists and exception reports for errors, check adjustments, printing checks, running reports, distributing checks
  • Prepare positive pay and ACH file and transmit reports to the bank. Approve/Reject exceptions as needed
  • Process garnishments and the related weekly/monthly invoices
  • Communicate daily with job sites and staff
  • Prepare and transmit weekly taxes withheld to the IRS (941)
  • Prepare Quarterly and Annual Reports or create other various reports as needed by project teams
  • Assist in annual W2, 1095-C reporting and record retention activities
  • Archive payroll documentation as required
  • Become familiar with collective bargaining agreements for various unions
  • Understand union drug testing programs and respond to random drug test notices from WCISAP and DFW
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Two or more years of Payroll experience is required, preferably in the construction industry
  • Possess quick and accurate data entry skills. Critical attention to detail
  • Self-starter with initiative and willingness to learn
  • Must possess excellent time management, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and enjoys a collaborative teamwork environment
  • Possess good computer skills and be trainable in any software package. Experience in Spectrum accounting software is preferred, but not required
  • Experience and knowledge of Bluebeam, Windows software, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
