ABOUT THE POSITION 

Lease Crutcher Lewis has an exciting opportunity for an Estimator in our Portland office to work with our most talented project teams. Estimators are critical to the success of each of our projects as they often work throughout the entire project from start to finish. A snapshot of the responsibilities for this role includes conducting accurate cost analyses and estimations, preparing preliminary estimates for conceptual projects and assisting our more experienced estimators with direct cost reports. Estimators use their financial expertise to facilitate and define project scope and prepare effective proposals. This position will also partner with other estimators with pricing schedules, participate in proposal preparation and perform technical assessments to facilitate analysis function.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive take-offs/quantity surveys for Commercial and SPD Preconstruction projects to support Lead Estimator
  • Support Lead Estimator in obtaining budget pricing from selected subcontractors and suppliers
  • Assist Lead Estimator in developing budget options to present to client
  • Collect historical cost data from select bid and completed projects; update historical cost database as required
  • Assist PM’s and other estimating department personnel on preconstruction efforts as assigned
  • Monitor costs and trends in the marketplace
  • Foster and maintain outstanding rapport with key subcontractors in our marketplace
  • Assist as needed with project pursuits and marketing materials

IN ORDER TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

  • Estimators must have an understanding of construction and how construction projects come together
  • Must have 2+ years of recent, relevant experience as an Estimator or Project Engineer heavily involved in the preconstruction process. Experience with Oncenter, Revit, Sage (Timberline) and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Estimators must have strong organizational skills, excellent problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail. They should be able to work effectively with other estimators, but also perform well on their own with minimal supervision
